Ayurveda is considered by many scholars to be the oldest healing science. In Sanskrit, Ayurveda means “The Science of Life.” Ayurvedic knowledge originated in India more than 5,000 years ago and is often called the “Mother of All Healing.
From time immemorial, mankind has sought health and longevity . Ayurveda, the science of life , epitomizes the harmonious blending of body, mind and spirit of the individual with the cosmos. The great seers of ancient India have enriched the world with this unique science of healing and art of living. Ayurveda is as old as the civilization that treasured it and is a comprehensive health care system. It places great emphasis on prevention and encourages the maintenance of health through close attention to balance in one’s life , thinking, diet, lifestyle and the use of natural medicines. Just as everyone has a unique fingerprint, each person has a particular pattern of energy, that comprises his or her constitution. Many factors, internal and external act on us to disturb the balance and this will manifest in time as disease.
Ayurveda is gaining popularity globally as increasing numbers are looking for safer, time tested and alternate solutions for many illnesses. But Ayurveda is much more than just a popular form of alternative medicine- it is a living tradition which has integrated the wisdom of India’s greatest sages and doctors into a unique and universally applicable medical system.
